Drawing I with Bill Schmidt: Assignment #1












Now I am in Maryland, attending MICA. 
 
Drawing assignment #1: Do a drawing that embodies what drawing means to you. When you draw for the sake of drawing, what do you do? Make this a personal statement that is a reflection of your sensibilities, values, and interests. It can be any size and in any medium.

I decided to squiggle some lines and incorporate ideas of life, an organic feel (ie. the leaves) and a giant bird- since birds make me think about freedom, which is something I look for when i sketch.







I found myself unhappy. After about an hour of sitting and staring I decided to re-read the assignment and the 2nd time around, I decided that I wanted to take it all more literally and personally. I came up with this:
